Surfing Holidays in Cornwall

Surfing in Newquay

If you’re looking for the best surf around, you’d have to travel far to beat the incredible waves in Newquay. When looking for surfing holidays in Cornwall, it’s important to pick a place where you have easy access to some of the region’s best surfing beaches. Check out our top Cornish surfing hot spots close to our accommodation.

Fistral Beach, Newquay

Known as the home of British surfing, this 750-metre beach is renowned for its exceptional surf conditions. Fistral can provide first-class waves and hold swells up to 8ft. This beach is also famous for the annual Cribbar wave which triggers as the waves crash over the reef and can be in excess of 30ft! Choose one of our Rocklands or Zinc Apartments for breath-taking sea views of Tolcarne and Fistral beach respectively, meaning you never miss a moment of the action.

Watergate Bay

Our town centre properties are a great base for heading over to Watergate Bay beach for a day of surfing. Just 2 miles north of the centre of Newquay, jump in the car or take the stunning walk along the coast path. The two-mile stretch of sand enjoys enormous waves coming in from the Atlantic. It also has the highest standard of UK bathing water.

Towan Beach, Newquay

This beach is in the heart of Newquay town. This area is popular with surfers due to its sheltered location, which means it experiences regular conditions great for beginners and those looking for a gentler ride! We highly recommend you check out Escape Surf School during your stay. Located just above Towan Beach, their expert instruction will help you master the waves in no time!

Check out our blog post on a surf lesson with Escape Surf School here to learn more!

Perranporth

This beach is set behind rolling sand-dunes and has impressive surfing conditions. It’s easily accessible from the village and is close to some of our more rural holiday cottages. Early in the morning you might find you’re sharing the shallows with a few horses and their riders having a paddle, but the huge beach is big enough to make you feel like you have the place to yourself.
