The Sea

Grey Seals

One of the most breath-taking parts of a holiday in Cornwall is a chance sighting of our spectacular grey seals that can often be seen at various locations along the coastline. Take a walk along the headlands and keep your eyes peeled for these cute and curious creatures bobbing in the waves and basking on the rocks. If you do happen to spy one, make sure you give them their space and adorable as they are, never approach seals for a closer look. (This disturbs their daily patterns, and can cause create confusion to them when hunting or resting).

Compass Jellyfish

These pretty sea creatures arrive as early as May, usually stay until around September time. They can usually be seen rolling in on the surf, and if you take a walk around the headland, you can often spot them floating in the sea – their markings making them easy to identify. If you do come by one, make sure you don’t touch it as like most jellyfish, they sting!

One of the most celebrated inhabitants of Cornwall’s waters, their playful manner makes them easier to spot than you might think! Their playful habit of leaping out of the water as they swim means their pods can be seen anytime from around May and throughout the summer. The most frequently seen dolphin in North Cornwall is the common dolphin, with numerous sightings around the Mawgan Porth area every year.

We have two beautiful apartments located in Mawgan Porth at the Europa Court complex. Take a look below.

How could we leave out the most notorious of Cornish creatures! Love them or hate them, seagulls are Cornish locals, and their antics bring smiles to the faces of many (that is, unless they just stole your pasty!). Would Cornwall be the same without their calls providing a constant soundtrack? We think not!

You could choose any one of our fabulous holiday lets and be perfectly positioned to spot seagulls. Browse all our properties here.
